Looking for a Puerto Rico wedding that blends laid-back beach vibes with wild, unforgettable energy? Alexandra and Matt’s destination celebration at Villa Montaña Beach Resort in Isabela brought the heat—literally and metaphorically.

Kicking Things Off: A BBQ Welcome Dinner Under the Stars

Alexandra and Matt kicked off their Puerto Rico wedding weekend with a laid-back beachfront BBQ at Villa Montaña—a perfect way to welcome guests and set the tone for a celebration full of connection, flavor, and fun. This pre-wedding gathering hit all the right notes for destination couples dreaming of something relaxed yet memorable. Alex and Matt opted for a quick sunset photosession during their BBQ Welcome dinner. It drizzled, but that didn't stop us!

Just steps from the ocean, the welcome dinner served up grilled favorites and a soundtrack of waves and laughter. With string lights swaying in the coastal breeze, guests gathered barefoot in the sand—cocktails in hand, toes in the surf, and hearts wide open.

Friends shared stories around picnic tables and fully leaned into the tropical magic. It felt less like a rehearsal dinner and more like the soft launch of a weekend that would only get wilder, louder, and even more unforgettable.

Getting Ready: Rainy Surprises & Bridal Magic Indoors

Rain on your wedding day? In Puerto Rico, it’s rare for it to change your plans drastically—but rain can happen.

In my 8 years of documenting weddings at Villa Montaña Beach Resort, I’ve only experienced rain twice—and Alexandra and Matt’s Puerto Rico wedding just happened to be one of them. But here's the thing: we made it work.

Alexandra got ready in one of the charming oceanfront villas, surrounded by her closest friends, a playlist that matched her energy, and that unmistakable pre-wedding excitement in the air. The rain came down steadily outside, but inside? It was all glow.

We had 30 minutes to capture her bridal details—think shoes, jewelry, bouquet, and heirlooms—so every shot had to count. With some creative rearranging and flash, the indoor setting gave everything a warm, intimate vibe.

We spent about an hour capturing Alexandra in her dress, and she radiated calm confidence despite the shift in plans. Then came 30 minutes with Matt—who, like a total champ, embraced the drizzle. The result? Moody, romantic portraits that felt cinematic and totally them.

It’s a reminder that while you can’t predict the weather, you can trust the team around you to adapt and still tell the full story. And sometimes, those unexpected twists are what make a Puerto Rico wedding even more memorable.

Why Villa Montaña Is Built for Epic Destination Weddings

Tucked away in Isabela on Puerto Rico’s northwest coast, Villa Montaña Beach Resort nails that perfect mix of chill and chic. With on-site villas for guests, palm-lined beachfront spaces, and a team used to throwing events.

Plus, it’s a short drive from Aguadilla airport, which makes travel smooth for your guests (and gives you more time to sip mojitos instead of stressing logistics).

For Couples Who Want It All

Alexandra and Matt’s wedding proves you don’t have to choose between heartfelt and high-energy. With a weekend full of unforgettable moments—starting with an intimate beach BBQ and ending with a party that tore the roof off (metaphorically… and maybe a little literally)—this was the kind of wedding that left everyone sun-kissed, exhausted, and so, so happy.
