Thinking about planning a destination wedding in Puerto Rico? Look no further than the vibrant beachfront district of Condado in San Juan. As local wedding storytellers, we recently had the honor of capturing Alan and Cristine's stunning wedding celebration at the San Juan Marriott Resort, which highlights just how seamless island logistics can be. Discover how this incredible couple styled their day, starting with a getting-ready session at the hotel, moving to a classic Catholic ceremony at Parroquia Stella Maris, and wrapping up with a high-energy ballroom reception.

Planning a San Juan Marriott Resort Wedding Itinerary
The Couple: Cristine (a local Puerto Rican bride) & Alan (an American groom)
Getting Ready Venue: Oceanfront Suites at San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino
Ceremony Venue: Parroquia Stella Maris Catholic Church, Condado
Reception Venue: Grand Ballroom at the San Juan Marriott Resort
Photo Locations: Marriott Oceanfront Terrace and its fabulous velvety-esque dark green-ish staircase
Part 1: Getting Ready
The bride and groom booked separate suites at the resort, giving both bridal parties ample room to prepare.
Pop the rosé, slide into matching pajamas, and let the tropical breeze take away any pre-wedding jitters.
Photography Tip: Choosing a getting-ready venue with a private balcony allows for clean, outdoor portraits before your makeup is subject to the Caribbean humidity!

Part 2: A Cross-Cultural Celebration at Parroquia Stella Maris Church
One of the most beautiful elements of Cristine and Alan’s wedding day was the blending of two distinct worlds. With Cristine being a local Puerto Rican bride and Alan hailing from the United States, their guest list spanned across the continent and the island. Because they had loved ones traveling from all corners of the US, logistics and accessibility were top priorities.
That is exactly what makes hosting a San Juan Marriott Resort wedding so magical—Puerto Rico offers all the romance of an exotic Caribbean escape, but because it’s a US territory, no passport is required for US citizens. Alan’s family and friends were able to touch down in paradise, skip the customs lines, and dive straight into the celebrations without the stress of international travel or currency exchanges.
For the ceremony, the couple chose one of San Juan's most requested religious and architectural landmarks, Parroquia Stella Maris, tucked right into the vibrant heart of Condado. It sits just a quick, two-minute drive or elegant stroll down Ashford Avenue from the hotel. Stella Maris is a masterpiece of modern, minimalistic mission architecture. Its soaring white interior walls, dramatic brick-shingle roofline, and narrow stained-glass windows designed by local artisan Edward Ferraioli bounce natural light effortlessly. Walking down the aisle here feels both deeply intimate and grandly cinematic. Cristine and Alan exchanged traditional Catholic vows beneath the grand crucifix, surrounded by a joyful mix of local faces and traveling guests.

Part 3: Portraits on San Juan Marriott Resort's Beach Deck and Their Fab Staircase
Since Stella Maris is tucked directly into the vibrant fabric of the town, we captured gorgeous portraits of the newlyweds as soon as they arrived at the hotel, which is located 5 minutes away by car.
And let’s be completely honest: sometimes even the most spacious hotel suites just aren’t built to handle a show-stopping wedding dress train! Cristine’s gown featured a spectacular train that absolutely deserved its own physical space to breathe. Moving outdoors for their couple portraits allowed us to fully spread out that gorgeous fabric on the terrace and on the fab staircase I mentioned earlier. Letting the coastal outdoor light catch every delicate fabric gave the train its full glory, <3

Part 4: Dancing the Night Away in the Grand Ballroom
After cocktail hour on the beachfront terrace, guests were ushered into the Grand Ballroom at the San Juan Marriott. Known for its flexible spaces, refined lighting, and world-class on-site catering,
With an entirely bicoastal guest list ready to celebrate, the reception came completely alive. The fusion of cultures was beautiful to witness on the dance floor, peaking with a live band and DJ.

Why This San Juan Destination Wedding Location Just Works
If you're mapping out your island wedding logistics, especially for a cross-cultural or bicoastal guest list like Cristine and Alan's, this specific venue combination offers a great experience:
The Ultimate Travel Convenience: Your out-of-town guests can fly straight into Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU). Because Puerto Rico is a domestic flight from the US mainland, your loved ones get a tropical island vacation with zero passport stress, no international cell phone fees, and familiar currency.
A Completely Walkable District: Once guests arrive at the hotel, everything is taken care of. Stella Maris Church, high-end dining, and shopping are all within walking distance of the resort pool or a short Uber ride.
Seamless Transitions: Eliminating long transit windows between your getting-ready suites, the church ceremony, and the reception ballroom means less time spent sitting in traffic and more time spent drinking signature rum cocktails on the terrace with your favorite people!
